Privacy Policy

Effective May-2019 · Last updated Aug-2026

This policy explains what Ignition Interlock Compare collects when you use ignition-interlock-compare.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get it deleted. Short version: we use analytics, our phone numbers are tracked, and if you submit an insurance quote request we pass your details to insurance partners so they can quote you.

1. Who we are

Ignition Interlock Compare (“we”, “us”) operates ignition-interlock-compare.com, an independent comparison and lead-referral website for ignition interlock devices and SR-22 insurance.

We are the controller of the information described here. Once you contact a provider or submit a quote request, that company handles your information under its own privacy policy, which we don’t control.

2. Information we collect

What we collect and where it comes from
Automatically, when you browseIP address, approximate location (city/region), device and browser type, pages viewed, referring page, time on site, and similar analytics data.
When you call a number on this siteYour phone number, the number you dialled, call time and duration, and which page you called from. Calls may be recorded by the receiving provider. See section 5.
When you request an insurance quoteThe details you enter on the partner’s form — typically name, contact details, ZIP code, vehicle, and driving-history information needed to quote SR-22 coverage.
When you email usYour email address, name if you give it, and whatever is in your message.
Tools on this siteCost calculator, state lookup, and removal-date calculator run in your browser.
We never collectCourt records, BAC results, case numbers, or device data. We have no access to your court file or your interlock device.

Please don’t send us case details, medical information, or anything else sensitive by email. We don’t need it and we’d rather not hold it.

3. How we use it

  • To operate the site and see which pages and states are useful.
  • To connect you with an interlock provider or insurance partner when you ask us to.
  • To measure which pages generate calls and quote requests, so partners can pay us correctly.
  • To answer your emails and process corrections and privacy requests.
  • To detect fraud, abuse, and security problems, and to comply with law.

We do not sell your browsing data to data brokers, and we don’t run retargeting ads.

4. Who we share it with

Categories of recipients
Interlock providersWhen you call a tracked number, the provider receives your call and your phone number.
Insurance partnersWhen you submit a quote request, your details go to the quote platform and to the carriers or agents it matches you with, so they can contact you.
AnalyticsGoogle Analytics / Google Search Console via Site Kit.
LegalWhere required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Business transferIf the site is sold or merged, information may transfer with it.

Passing your contact details to insurance or provider partners in exchange for compensation may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some state laws. See section 7 for how to opt out.

5. Phone calls and call tracking

The phone numbers on this site are tracked. When you call, we can see the number you dialled from, the time, the length of the call, and the page you were on. This is how partners verify calls they’ve paid for.

Calls connect you to an ignition interlock provider or its call center — not to us. That company may record or monitor the call under its own policy and applicable state recording laws. If you don’t want to be recorded, say so at the start of the call or ask for another way to get a quote.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working and to measure traffic. Analytics cookies tell us how many people visited a state page and where they came from; they are not used to build advertising profiles. Our hosting platform may also set functional cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some tools may not remember your inputs. Where required (EU/UK, and some US states), we honor consent choices and Global Privacy Control signals.

7. Your privacy rights

Everyone

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@ignition-interlock-compare.com and we’ll respond within the time your law allows (generally 45 days in the US). We may need to verify your identity first.

California (CCPA/CPRA) and other US state laws

If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. To opt out, email us with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” We won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

EU/UK visitors

If GDPR applies to you, our lawful bases are consent (for quote requests and non-essential cookies) and legitimate interests (site operation, security, basic analytics). You can withdraw consent, object to processing, request portability, and complain to your supervisory authority.

Once your details reach a provider or insurer, ask them directly. We can delete our records, but we can’t delete data held by a company you contacted through us. Their privacy policy and their opt-out process govern that data.

8. Retention and security

We keep analytics data for as long as our analytics provider’s retention setting allows, call records for as long as needed to verify partner billing and resolve disputes, and emails until they’re no longer needed. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no website can promise perfect security.

Our vendors may process information in the United States and elsewhere.

9. Children

This site is for adults dealing with a DUI/DWI-related requirement. It is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

10. Changes and contact

We’ll post any material change on this page and update the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
