About Ignition Interlock Compare

We’re an independent comparison site for drivers who have been ordered to install an ignition interlock device. Our job is simple: tell you what your state actually requires, what it will really cost, and who you can call today — without a lecture.

Why this site exists

After a DUI or DWI, most people get a court order with a deadline and almost no explanation. Provider websites quote a low monthly price and leave out install, calibration, and removal fees. State agency pages are written for lawyers. Meanwhile you have 30 days, a job to keep, and no idea who to call first.

We built this site to close that gap: one page per state with the requirement, the real total cost, the approved providers, and a phone number that connects you to someone who can book an installation.

What we do — and don’t do

Our scope
We doCompare interlock providers, publish state requirements with official sources, estimate true total cost, and connect you to providers and SR-22 insurance quotes.
We don’tManufacture, install, service, or remove devices. We are not a provider and we don’t set prices.
We’re notA law firm, an insurance agency, or a government agency. Nothing here is legal advice.
IndependenceNo provider pays for a higher ranking or a better review. See our editorial policy.

How we make money

The site is free to use. We’re paid two ways: providers pay us when a reader calls one of our tracked numbers, and insurance partners pay us for SR-22 quote requests. That compensation never changes what we write. Prices, requirements, and rankings are researched independently, and we publish providers we earn nothing from when they’re the right answer for a state.

Full transparency: read the advertising disclosure for exactly who pays us and how.

How we research a state

  1. Pull the requirement from the state’s own DMV, DPS, or licensing agency page.
  2. Trace it back to the governing statute or administrative rule and cite it.
  3. Cross-check the state’s official list of certified/approved device providers.
  4. Collect real pricing ranges from provider quotes, then flag anything we couldn’t confirm with ⚠.
  5. Re-verify each state page on a quarterly schedule and update the “Updated” date only when we actually recheck it.

Where the law is genuinely discretionary — a judge’s call, a county-by-county practice — we say so instead of guessing. You’ll see the ⚠ symbol throughout the site next to any figure we haven’t been able to confirm against an official source.
